Volunteering Jobs

Job: Main Entrance

At the Main Entrance, you’ll be part of the first friendly faces our families see! Some volunteers will be scanning QR Codes as children and parents/carers enter. Parents/carers will have their QR Code on their phone or printed out.

Others please walk the line, reminding people to have their QR Code ready. If someone doesn’t have a code, please direct them to the Assistance Line where a CREW member will be able to help.

Parents/carers may request a ‘Yellow Sticker’ This is so that our photographers or videographers know that a child wearing a Yellow No Photography Sticker are not be filmed.

Job: Toy Room

In the Toy Room, you’ll be helping children collect their presents — one of the most magical parts of the day! ✨

Each child will have a QR Code that is scanned once as they enter. After scanning, you’ll be given a coloured square to show which present table to visit:

  • Pink: Ages 0–2 years

  • Green: Ages 3–4 years

  • Yellow: Ages 5–6 years

  • Blue: Ages 7–9 years

  • White: Ages 10–12 years

Guide the child to the matching table so they can receive their gift. Once they’ve collected their present, wish them a very Merry Christmas. Then escort them to the Toy Room exit, return your coloured square to the scanner, and re-join the line to take another child through.

Job: Rides

For the Amusement rides, you will be monitoring and helping children on and off the amusement rides. Be sure children use courtesy and manners and limit the time on these rides so that everyone gets a chance. Shoes may need to be removed before the child is allowed on the ride.

Job: Food

For the Food Area, you will be helping hand out the food. It could be drinks, chips, ice-cream, the BBQ, fruit and sandwiches. ALL are entitled to food on the day, children, parents, siblings and volunteers. Please make sure people are not too greedy. It is a sad fact that some people will take advantage of things when they are free.

Job: Food - Icecreams

Serving Icecream from the Peters freezers, located near the food. You may also offer around the crowd.

Job: Food - Slushie Machine

Helping serve Slushies located near the main entrance.

Job: Volunteer & Parent Support

For this role, your job will be to look after our guests and other volunteers on the day. You are roaming to see if someone needs a break, parent, child or volunteer. You may even help with line management. Identifying where a line is heading and making sure parents and children are in the correct line.

We want to make the day as stress free as possible for the children!

Maybe even offering to line up for a parent, while they take a break! While roving amongst the crowd and if you see a child or parent not coping with the noise, perhaps let them know about the Sensory area.

Sensory Area

Located upstairs, you will be helping children and parents make their way up to the Sensory/Quiet area using the stairs or lift. Rove amongst the crowd and if you see a child or parent not coping, perhaps let them know about the area.

If you find a lost child (or parent!), please direct them to Information located in the centre of the room.

Information & Communication Boards

At the Information Desk, you’ll find large Corflute Boards and some smaller Aided Language Boards to help families who may need extra support with communication.

If you notice anyone who seems unsure, needs help understanding directions, or uses alternative communication methods, please:

·       Gently offer the Aided Language Board to assist with communication.

·       Be patient and kind, give them time to respond or point to what they need.

·       Your help using these boards ensures every child and parent feels included and understood.

Please do not ask for any leftover toys, these are distributed to other organisations and hospitals.

The Party finishes at 2:00pm, it will only take 30 - 40 minutes to clean up if everyone stays!
